Those are such cuties.. and this is your first hatch? congrats! what color is that brownish one now he is dry? do you have any others to hatch?

Hi everyone! I'm in the Caymans and I miss y'all and all my chickens at home. Fortunately I get my chicken fix here because of the feral chickens. Almost every hen has at least 2 babies with her. It's that time of year. I wish I could bring back some of these eggs!

I'm so excited that the swap will be in Corvallis! I don't know if anyone would want any but I have been hatching eggs from my hens (rir, buff o, and giant Jerseys crossed to my ubber fantastic polish roo I call Lord Gadiva

, he's a chocolate lace). The oldest I have so far due to a hawk nest in my back yard is 7 weeks. But they are amazing, instead of the big all over head dress they have mohawks!!!

I would love to get some hatching eggs as I'm totally addicted to hatching them and rasing them in the house till they NEED to go out to the little coop in the big coop.

Do I need to pre order hatching eggs or will there be eggs up for grabs at the swap??

I'm glad you'll be joining us!! I would say bring your hatching eggs if you have some because there will be a lot of local traffic as well as people from the swap so you never know what people will be wanting. As far as preordering eggs from someone on the swap thread, probably a good idea so they know how many to bring but a lot of people just bring whatever they have the day of the swap too. I know that is what I did in April.

Thanks! They are mighty cute IMO and yes I actually have 22 BCM eggs that are going into lockdown on Wednesday. I only think that 19-20 are really viable but the others may make it. We'll just have to see how it goes.

I have another 20ish going to lockdown about a week after that. DH said if they all hatch he's moving out....

Sad day here at the Castle...I found Tammy - my new frizzled chocolate pullet from Juliette - dead in her cage this morning

Shipping was hard on her and she never really thrived much after it I'm sorry to say. She was just a tiny thing when I got her - a very small Class A. Yesterday I started treating her for sour crop. I hate it when they don't make it even though you do everything right. It just goes to show I guess that no matter how much you do the right things for their care and well being, things still go wrong and they are totally out of your control.

I'm so sorry Laura!!!! She was really lovely! The same thing happened to my little black frizzle I got from daze at the swap. She didn't handle the stress well at all and was gone after three or four days....
