That's funny. She seems to have settled right in and has definately become one of my favorite girls.

Crummy work day yesterday. Home - likely have to put my handicapped duckling down tonight leaving me just one solo, ugh. Good note - cuckoo marans and olive egger from swap laying, bad news looks like plain old brown eggs with few speckles
sad.png
Car battery dead this morning and spare truck battery also dead, live in the boonies so a little stuck. Today had better improve or I'm going to need lots of chocolate and chicks (fuzzy ones). So, may be bringing two laying hens to swap if eggs blah still.

Cloverleaf - can you PM me with pricing on your call ducks? I have one msg into another lady but might be a while before I hear from her.

Wishing you all happy chickens and sunshine.

UPDATE list:
Possibly Bringing -
Saxony Drake
2 or 3 young layers
Crafts if I ever get time

Wanting (possibly)
Honey from Zanna
Hatching eggs (call duck? saxony? and maybe buttercup?) - definately somekind
Trying not to add more until I'm there haha.

Not sure who you got em from but I'm going to be trying to hatch some eggs from my OE?/EE? Roo over two marans. You're more than welcome to one of the babies if they hatch out! If they hatch they'll probably be 5-6 weeks Im guessing by the swap?

Oh here's the roo and he's carrying pea comb which bodes well for fun colors!

Hi all!

Cloverleaf-- I am now second guessing myself about the lav roo. Is he or isn't she?
roll.png
My reasons for thinking roo are: He just raced past the pullet in size even though he was much smaller when I got them. His legs quickly got fairly big around too. His comb area reddened up to where he matched what the first roo had. But now today I was looking closely and I can't tell. His comb isn't any bigger than Darla's (pullet) now and much less red and puffy than Greyson's (the crowing roo). Also when I compare his feathers against the Greyson's, the differences are obvious. Greyson has the pretty pointed feathers around his neck and the feathers on his lower back, fading into his tail are long and thin and also pointed. He/She's feathers around the neck are not QUITE as rounded as Darla's but they aren't long and thin looking like Greyson's either. As for size, now he is in between the two. Is it just that the age difference is now coming into play with the feathers and the comb not being caught up to Greyson?

I know a picture would be worth a thousand words but I've already tried uploading one twice but my dial-up connection just laughs at me and says "Yeah, right!" So I guess I'm just hoping you can tell me some things I might be able to look for more closely? Sorry that my explanation is so elementary. I've got so much to learn and I know it will be obvious if/when it crows but I'd like to educate myself before then if possible.

Sheepishly...thanks.

Good news from the Zoo incubator today....Dusty's and Fawn's eggs (both pullets from Juliette) are fertile and growing babies!

Fingers crossed that I will be able to mix and match my smooth pairs with some frizzled and silkied babies

Here is Lahnee and Loonah, my black silkie rooster and his girl (white silkie). He has started crowing and I'm afraid my neighbors are going to complain. Lahnee and Loonah are 3 months old. They need to go to a home that won't separate them as they get really upset when they are apart. Both of these chickens are PETS ONLY! They will only go to a home that will not make them into dinner. This pair has been hand-raised and are very tame. I'd love to keep them as they are getting beautiful and would probably place in shows but I can't have all of my chickens taken away just because of one rooster. I'm asking for $20 for both of them. I love them a lot and would appreciate someone that could keep me updated on them.
