Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

They are 19 days old today.

The brooder was getting crowded so I set up a separate brooder today and moved the Pekins over to it. I got 1 to quack, 4 peeped and the other 4 didn't make a sound. It is looking like maybe there is only one female.

No panic. I just picked them up, carried them over, and they immediately started exploring, as happy as can be. And eating. They like to eat.

My runners are 2 weeks old this Tues. I have them in the bathroom. Lot easier to clean up after them. Messy little buggers. Too big for my little brooder. I have them in my tub. (good thing I have 2 bathrooms) I have a warming light attached to a little table sitting next to the tub, but it stays so warm I probably don't really need it. I take everything out (bed, food, etc), leave the ducks and turn on the water. Clean out the tub and then fill it up, ducks love it! Yesterday they started diving under the water and swimming like little fish! (Somedays, I wish it was this easy to clean up after the chickens that are still in the house.)) I'm hoping they will be ready to go (actually they are ready) soon. (coop isn't) Good luck with the Pekins. That is what I wanted in the beginning, but I was afraid they would be too big. (with all the chickens and now a turkey)

These Pekins are going to be big. I received 21 ducklings in the box 20 days ago. I couldn't fit 2 of these Pekins back into that same box today. In fact, I might be able to get one of them inside, but the lid wouldn't close. They sure grow fast.

You'll enjoy your Runners. Of all the ducks, they are the most fun to watch.

just lost Riccio Laura! I went out to talk to everyone and I noticed her sat all puffed up by herself. I went into the yard and picked her up and she was fine for a minute. I checked her out and she was fine but emaciated. All of a sudden she started spasming and gasping and went limp.

she seemed smaller than the others her age but I didn't really think much of it. She's totally fine I just think they weren't letting her eat.

I had no idea it was that bad cause she's so fluffy. Gonna miss her curly little foot. I feel like I Shouldve noticed. I've just been so flipping busy.....

I'm looking to get 5 to 6 pullets right now (don't want to wait until October if I don't have to). I prefer banty hens but will consider large breeds as well. Does anyone have birds that I could come and get in the next couple of weeks?
