Chickie update: this morning my little peep had one eye open. Its standing up really tall, looking up and wobbly, not looking around, which I think is odd. Still not eating on its own (because it isn't looking for/at anything) but active and vocal. I think that a combination of its age and possibly blurry vision are preventing it from learning to eat. My hope is that it will continue to heal and start foraging when it can see. Is there something other than egg yolks that would be good force feeding emergency food?

I feed mine yogurt and I grind up chick starter and mix it with water to make a soup. Keeping good thoughts for you and chickie!

I have had luck mixing a little chick feed into water until it dissolves into a soup or very runny gruel. Then gently dipping the tip of the chicks beak in until it drinks. That way it gets food and water at once, plus it gets the benefit of chick feed. I also mix boiled egg yolk with water, or give it tiny amounts of plain yogurt. If the injuries on it's head are still open or scabbing over I would rub some neosporin ointment on them twice a day. You can even safely wipe a little neosporin in or on it's eyes to help fend of infection while it heals. I have done this successfully with both chicks and rescued kittens on advice from my vet. Also, I would add a few drops of poly-vi-sol vitamins to it's water and then dip it's beak a few times a day. Vitamin water seems to act like a tonic for chicks no matter what is wrong with them, at least in my experience. I'm sorry you have to dea; with this. Good luck.​

My son will have one of his black bantam Favs there. I don't risk any more birds than I have to at that show. The security is horrid. One poor little 4Her had TWO birds stolen last year!!

- An original label featuring your chickens painted by Ram Papish. The original size will be approximately 7" x 24" and frame ready. Please be prepared to provide photographs of your chickens.

Pricing:

Cottagechick - I loooove my d'anvers. My 4 year old carries her hens and the rooster all over our yard and catches them easily. We started them in the house and they had way more personality than the silkies, sexlinks, marans, etc that I raised (or what I remember in my youth). I have my first Serama's and so far am greatly enjoying them. My d'anver's are pretty small but a bit bigger that Serama's. I do have a VERY tame roo (hehe) if you have an interest. I got my daughter to commit to just one of her two roos. IMHO if I had more room we'd go into way more d'anvers. But then I am a chicken addict, so who knows.

Hello,
I was asking a few chicken peeps around the Portland area where I might get another hen..then I was pointed to this direction. (I live in Hillsboro)
I just discovered that two out of my four "hens" are actually Roo's. I am looking to buy another hen. Mine are only 4 months and so I am looking to get one around the same age..then perhaps swap or sell my Roo.
Is this a good event to do this, should I wait this long??
