Tam'ra of Rainbow Vortex :

A few pages back we were discussing bringing seeds to swap. I am curious to know roughly how many folks want seeds (and what they want!) an how many are bringing seeds -and what they have. I have to figure out how many seeds to save and how to package them. My tomatoes are finally starting to do their thing, and I have decided to get rid of the remaining seeds from my green cucumber (my yellow one is easier to find in the garden!). I am thinking of bringing a jar of each seed type and a box of envelopes to disperse (and collect!) seeds. Any thoughts?

I have seeds from the following:

Cucumber: a variety cally Bushy (green which begins to yellow when over ripe, good for salads and pickling)
Corn: golden bantam (of all the choices available, how could I not pick the chicken-y one?)
Seed potatoes: mostly smaller russets, but a few 'genetic expiriments' which are pink, purple, blue, red, gold, etc.- these were from TPS and are, as of yet, untried new varieties.
TPS (true potato seeds): you never know what you are going to get!

HERBS
-Fennel
-Feverfew
-Parsley
-Yarrow
-Chives
-Echinacea
-Maybe others- I will have to check the garden.

TOMATOES
-black sea man (pinkish greenish rotten looking delicious thing!)
-Amish paste (medium sized red ones)
-gold medal (huge ribbed ones, yellow with red-orange blush)
-cherry roma (gourd-shaped red ones)
-green zebra (small, green with yellow stripes-makes great pizza sauce!)
-striped cavern (red with yellow stripes, grows like a bell pepper)
-juan flamme (small, orangey round fruit that is supposed to be good for drying)

What I want:
Is it crazy to want more tomato varieties? Well, I do. I want MORE tomatoe seeds. Especially from black ones.
Carrots-the wilder the variety the better-I love color!
Beans- I can't bring myself to buy them since no one but me eats them, but there are so many pretty ones out there!
Anything else fun and interesting- I love gardening and LOVE color and unique things.

I will have umpteen calendula seeds, and carrot seeds (but this is my first year saving, so I can't guarantee). I also have some Simpson seeded lettuce from last year (it grew very well this year, but I didn't let it go to seed since I already had so much). And I'll have to check to see what else.
I'd love some striped cavern tomato, and echinacea, and feverfew!

And if these painted wooden roosters come out like I hope, I can donate one of those, too!

It's not that there's a fee, just that if you donate raffle items we won't be hounding you to chip in cash toward the building rental.

I'd like to have an idea ahead of time, and then if you want to change one item for another or add to it that's great.

Thanks!

I'm still not sure if I will be able to actually make it to the swap, but I'm tracking what's going on just in case!

At swap meet time I will have some ~12 week old Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks that I hatched out from Wynette's (here on BYC) eggs shipped to me. She has really nice quality birds with nice markings. I'm wondering if there would be any interest in either pullets or cockerals from this batch of chicks? If so, even if I can't make it, I'm sure I could get them a ride down there with someone else local.

I don't have any 'wants' at this time.........well, I do....but just can't keep getting more and more chickens!! LOL

I can't say for certain but I know there are going to be several people there looking for birds - just birds in general to add to their flock. Most people off the ad that are coming just say they are looking for chickens to buy.

I hope we'll see you there
