Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

I will donate a raffle item for sure. For now, put me down for donating a feather mask. If I DON'T have any left after the renaissance faire, I will make sure I have something else. Maybe several smaller items (feather hair combs and/or hair pins for example) which could be either split up, or raffled together. A few small items can be good in a raffle. More prizes=more winners.

How is the raffle going to work? I have seen raffles where l people buy tickets and then place the tickets in bags on the items they want to get, that way you are not drawn for an item you don't need or want.

I will also bring something for the raffle (as I will have a few things for the swap and a friend who is bringing A LOT) so either a pet goodie basket, or???

Awesome news from our other business involved in the event: Gary, the manager at Del's is donating a small chicken hutch, a 6lb feeder and a 1 gallon waterer to start with. He might throw in a few extras but he said to put him down for that definitely. I think this is the only raffle that we should limit the number of tickets that people can put in. No bag stuffing

You can put me down for 2 cheesecakes...a Blue Ribbon and probably one of the autumn type ones - I'll decide soon. I may also be willing to donate a Serama pair depending on how well my next two hatches go - I'll decide that at the end of September. I'm getting some very cool eggs from back east to mix with my eggs in the next hatch - possibility of barred Seramas

I shouldn't count my chicks before they hatch though. I'm on day 20 of the current hatch and not even a rattle or roll going on in any of the 11 eggs

That's awesome that they are donating so much!!! Do we want to make it a seperate raffle item, and have the tickets be like $5 each, with a limit of 100 tickets, or do we want to make that a special raffle item just for vendors, with each person with a table getting one ticket each?

No, I don't think we should limit the sales and I think we should definitely open it up to the public BUT I do think the tickets should be more - $5 a ticket sounds good. The hutch itself is about $119 so it's easily going to be a $150 donation with the other items he was talking about.

Nutcakes donation is going to be about $75+ in value (mainly due to the time she is going to be putting in on the cake) so we might want to think about higher price tickets for that as well.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to undercut anyone elses donations to the raffle, I am not implying that at all! I just want to make sure these businesses get recognition for being a part of our event. I hope that came out right! or that you all know what I'm trying to say! I'm getting ready to take my dog to the vet to be euthanized in a few minutes so I'm not thinking all that straight.

My thoughts on larger raffle items... I don't think we should have more than one BIG / separate raffle item, otherwise not only is it more confusing, but we are back to making the raffle more of a focus than it should be, IMO. I would say that any business that donates a raffle item that's over $50 can put up a banner if they wish. And if there's anything else we want to put with the hutch to make it an even bigger package, we can.
