Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

Yes, what Alexis said, thank you

I'm thinking the tables we get with the rental are going to be used for swap business stuff so I think it's a good idea for anyone wanting to use a table that they bring their own (please try to keep it at one, two max, due to space restrictions). With all the raffle items pouring in, the potluck items and other things that will pop up, I think all 10 tables will be used. We will, however, have a huge amount of chairs (75) to use.

Alexis, how is the website coming? I have people emailing me constantly wanting info

Does any one besides me have Blue American geese? I sure need a Blue goose. I've got a lovely 1 year old Saddleback Pomeranian goose, I would like to trade for a Blue. She's got a very calm temperament and is very quiet. She's a good layer and tends her nest like she should.

She's the only Pomeranian I have and if I get a gander for her, then I have to build another pen, and the fence builder is not feeling very cooperative. Considering he's just finished about 800 feet of fence it doesn't seem like the best time to ask for another goose pen.

Excellent! I'm going to PM you and send you her email her address. I will let her know that you will be emailing. They don't have a coop yet but are looking at one. I told her I think it's too small so they might be one step back from getting chickens yet. I did reiterate that she should get a couple of really good birds to start with. I think the mom heard me.

She's waiting to hear from you!

Celiandy - my DH doesn't mind chickens in the house now...as long as they have their diapers on! Love them! Mr MFC Roo is in right now. He's a goofball.

Just wanted to let everyone know I will be posting an updated bringing/want list later tonight since the last one is way back on page 3! I've been a little preoccupied this past week so I haven't been able to keep up. Too much stress and too many things to do in too short of time. I even blew a blood vessel in my eye from all the stress, something I've never done before in my life. Now I can honestly tell my kids they make my eyes bleed

Hello fellow chickenteers;
yippiechickie.gif

I have a question.
idunno.gif
Mostly for the ones from the Vancouver area, but if you know an answer, please please feel free to answer.
celebrate.gif
I am getting some pekin/blue swedish duck eggs. Kind of an hatching "experiment", since I haven't ever hatched duck eggs before. But the
idunno.gif
question has to do with processing the birds,.... for.....um..... meat. I wasn't for sure
ep.gif
if I would ever go this route, but I am thinking about it. If more eggs hatch then I need, and if I can't sell or give the babies away, I was thinking about using them for meat. But I know I can't do it
th.gif
.....um.............MYSELF! (Finally
hide.gif
the question that I need an answer to)
idunno.gif
Where, in the Vancouver area, does one go to have this done? Chicken or duck? And is it expensive to have it done? Like I said, I am still just thinking about it, and I'm still not sure if I can do it or not.

Thanks,

Paula, I would post an ad for a hunter that would like to take a duck in exchange for showing you how to do them yourself. It's really not that hard, and after your first few you'll feel like a pro. Just make sure that you bleed them out first - hunters aren't used to that step!

Other than that, I don't think there are many affordable places for poultry processing anymore

Oh my gosh Zoo! I hope you are able to take it easy soon and find some relax-time. Tell those kiddos that it's time to wait on Momma! Mother's Day needs to come early in your house this year!

P.S. Got to spend some time with Piper and Amelia this weekend and I have to agree with the others...those girls are very much into neck nuzzles and HAIR rearranging. Piper had me laughing so hard as she "cleaned" my hair and arranged it to her liking before hunkering down and purring into my neck. Too cute!

Sadly, Mother's Day is just another day here. We have too much to get done so we'll be working in the garage building my rooster cages. My husband wants part of his garage back (imagine that?? lol) so we are putting in kennel style cages in the back room. With my daughter's graduation coming up, we are short on weekends. Hopefully I'll find some downtime this summer lol.

That makes me smile about Piper

I actually did relax a bit tonight with my Seramas. I have 3 new roosters, not to mention my 4, so they all got love time. My girls are not lovey, the boys are the ones that can't get enough cuddling. You'll have Seramas before you know it slurry....
