Did you get my PM? I'm dying to do something other than cleaning house today - where's that pattern already?

Here's a quilt top that I put together this past Saturday evening while trying to avoid doing the dishes.

Sage, Thyme, and Nasturtium are said to reduce intestinal parasites, and chickens love red tomatoes, kale, and salad greens. I will be bringing starts of many of these to the swap... hopefully some in chicken proof planters so they don't get totally killed when the chickens eat them!

Alexis, I think we should put something about the quilt block swap on the website (I know, I have the sign in, lol but I'm not as "creative" as you). There are a lot of quilters in this area and it might be another way of drawing people to the swap and getting them involved in our group.

I'm all over that

Should I direct them here, so Tallyho can keep count?
I'll wait for some thoughts on this.

No, because then that forces them to join and some people just really don't want to join a forum. If tallyho goes for it, you can put her contact information on the contact page as the quilt block organizer. If people are interested, they should be directed to contact her just like the people interested in donating to the raffle should contact cloverleaf. How does that sound?

Rats, I was really hoping I could force people to join the forum

Tallyho, if this is something you want to head up, I can list your contact info OR I can just have them reply to the general contact email ([email protected]) and I can forward the questions or info to you. PM me if'n you'd prefer.

I PMed everyone who wants to participate (so far...come on y'all!) with the link to the pattern and tutorial. You can't mess it up. Waaay too easy. If you have questions just ask. We need to have at least 12 blocks per quilt which is still a small quilt even with plain blocks and borders. Plan on making at least 12 blocks. Hopefully more! Don't worry, they go really fast.

If you follow the instructions, at the end she mentions other ideas to add to your chickens. Feel free to be creative. But don't forget to stay in our black/grey, white color scheme. This will help unify the quilt with multiple participants. The chicken should be black/grey and the background white. If you notice my hen is mostly black but there are other colors in the pattern. The background is white with a tiny flower print. I left my comb 3 dimensional and loose, not tacked down. You can applique it if you want. And as for the direction the chicken faces...you can switch it up. Since this is a swap quilt it should have a lot of character so reversing hens is totally within the range. Oh and it's your choice on beaks. Chickens have many different color beaks, right?

Have fun!

I'd love to have others join us! Lets keep it through the general contact email. It will help me keep organized if I get forwarded messages from one source. I am disorganizationally email challenged at times.

Okay, so long as I have until the fall swap then I'll create time to try this out. I sew but this will be my first quilt group-effort. Sounds easy enough- count me in.
