I would like to get in on this too.

I've never made a full quilt before but I can sew and I'd LOVE to have a chicken quilt thrown over my couch! Fun!

Careful, you'll do fine and then be hooked like me

I just finished my 3rd incubation/hatching and I'm getting the itch to set more

Just follow the directions, write down daily temps and humidity if you can and note the direction the eggs are so you know they are turning and before you know it your locking them down and watching them hatch. its great.

PM'd you the instructions!

Ok, so now that I have volonteered myself for mask making demos... help me out here... Will we even have TIME at the swap? I might be persuaded to bring mask blanks to sell/trade, but actually making masks covered in feathers is a time consuming ordeal. The Gold laced one alone took me over half a day just to put the feathers on! I've never been to a CHICKEN swap, but I know what it's like at swap meets and I think we may be too busy for lessons. But like I said, I could make mask blanks maybe, and perhaps take pics of a mask in process and print out instructions. Of course, if I teach ya'll how to make my masks, then no one will save me feathers because they will want to keep them!

On the note of saving feathers; did I mention I also really want goose and turkey wing feathers? I have many oscure hobbies and among them are archery and historical reanactments. I plan to make myself a quiver full of arrows this winter. I want natural feathers, but in a variety of colors, for my fletching. I don't know if you know this, but the odd colored feather on an arrow has a functional significance. All my goose feathers are the same color (grey) and I have only a few turkey feathers, though I do have 2 colors there. I just don't think I can mix and match birds and expect good arrow flight. There's also water repellancy to consider. So any of you who keep large fowl keep me in mind as your birds moult! Also anything shiny... or spotted or striped... I am jealous of peafowl and pheasant owners. I want those feathers!

Also, on another note, What is the going rate for pullets? I have inquired on other threads and most of the answers were 'it depends on where you are'. So, where we are, what should one sell a pullet for? I have FOUR broodies right now on about 20 eggs, and 25 project birds in the brooder and some will be culled. I am sure I will have a few pullets I need to rehome. Of course I love trading too, but I imagine many people who just drop in won't have anything to trade, and I really hate being put on the spot when I don't know the worth of what I have. I want a fair, reasonable price. Not so cheap no one else can compete (I have expenses to think of too) but not so high I will have to bring them back home.

As far as time at the swap, from personal experience...no. Lol I didn't even have time to pee at the last one. I think K7 was in the same boat. It is just too busy and too much going on to even try something like that

Pullets, I think it depends on what type and how old. I've sold mine from $5 to $20. My mutts at the swap I sold for $7 and $8, my Seramas (pet quality) for $5 and nice quality starting at $10, standard size I think you can start at $10 and go up depending on age and breed. I sold my splash Maran at the swap for $20 because she had just started laying. I hope that helps!

Can I please ask where we put what we have for sale before the show........All I know is I want plain 4 cheese cakes and 4 whipped honey oh my! I will have some very nick silkies and a incubator and several other things, but when do we list and where? Thank you...been busy with new Boston pups...

You just make a post here with what you are wanting and what you are bringing

I update the list every 10-15 pages right now and Alexis updates the website. The last update is on page 70 and you can always check the very first post in this thread for information.

There's no way we could do the mask thing for the swap. It is far too crazy. I was thinking for the slumber party at my house or where ever we have it. I didn't realize how far south you were Tamara. I'd totally trade for blank masks though.
