Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

Ooooooh!!!!
Must resist..... That's one of the breeds on my wish list... But dare I? I am already almost triple my legal limit (albeit according to the laws of chicken math only 12 of my 64 count and I will be parting with at least 30 at or before the swap)
How many? How old? I need details. Please, tell me something that makes me not want them.
I have 1/3 acre of fenced chicken yard (just grass and oaks and chickens and my hammock

) and my neighbors don't mind my noisy birds. I shouldn't take on more... but a few couldn't hurt, right? Then the lonely polish won't be the only funny looking one in the flock!

AyeUpChuck,

You would be well advised to get every transaction in writing. Everybody signs it, one copy for them, one for you.

Bill of Sale

Seller: (your name)

Sells to (buyer's name)

19 one month old female chicks for $20 each
1 one month old chick of unknown gender for $15. (or a description of item sold and price)

All poultry is sold "as is". All sales are final. No refunds. Buyer acknowledges being allowed to inspect poultry before purchase.

Sorry, due to bio-security issues, poultry is non-returnable.

Then everybody signs and gets a copy.

If you guys check the North Idaho and Eastern Washington Poultry Swap thread, they have some really cute T-shirts that someone is going to have made up. A cute drawing and "Nobody Here But Us Chickens". They said they would take orders and leave the name of their swap off the shirt.

OMG! I was almost in a panic!

I went in to the chicken room to check on everyone, and Hef (the porcelain D'Uccle roo) was not in his cage!

How! and where is he! So, in almost panic mode, I happen to look into the nursery.

And low and behold, MR.HEF was under the brooder light cuddled with all of 'his' D'Uccle chicks!

Wish I had my camera! It was adorable!

He is such a sweetie! And a tricky little bugger too.....

He was probably drawn to the brooder light. Even though they are older and feathered out now I let them keep a 40 watt bulb on during the day because they seem to like it. It's what he's used to. Spoiled little boy.

He really is spoiled!

I was worried he was going to burn his little head.

He is so much taller than the chicks.

He is still a sweetie!

And I still have no idea how he did it! I'm almost thinking of setting up a secruity camera!

I had to seperate Frankie from the hens last night, he was getting to be a little mean

with the girls. Well, he was out of his cage also! It was a tall cage, and he had removed the top! I don't know how he even reached it!
