Critters will be coming to get hers Monday, if she can wait that long lol. I would love to keep them, especially since they are my first, but I have to be realistic (I hate that word!

lol ). I will grow out any that don't sell to fill my requests, and I'll probably be setting another batch in a week or two.

**Edited to say that "most of the babies will be up for sale" lol. There are a couple I am keeping my eye on especially an all white one. They do change colors, many times, but this one is snow white, not yellow

FYI;
I had put little Nigel in a brooder with a lamp. I was afraid I would fall asleep with him in my shirt and I would roll over on him. Well I just went in to check on him and he was eating!!

He is still not 100%, but eating and drinking makes me feel somewhat better! Maybe I will be able to get some real sleep. Thanks to everyone

I woke up at 2am, knowing something wasn't right. Found all of them zipped and stuck - membranes so leathery. Humidity was fine when I went to bed and you would think with all that hatching they wouldn't have that problem but they did

16 are fluffing up right now and doing great, and 4 are in the incubator for a bit. If they can't kick themselves out of the shell when I help them, then I let them stay in awhile longer. Usually makes everything turn out 100% better on helped babies. One got out just fine and was kicking around great but I found him dead a little bit ago

It happens, but I hate it. I had to toss 1 egg - it looked iffy and when I candled it, I could tell it didn't develop all the way. I must have missed it. 6 still have another day since it was a slightly staggered hatch. As it is, I'm thrilled with 22 out of 30!

and yes, I'm still awake! I can't sleep, afraid if I do and wake up later to find he might have died, scares the heck out of me. So I don't sleep. I keep checking in on him every hour or so. He seems to not be as lethargic, but still doesn't 'act' completely right yet. I'm still going, as soon as the stores open, and pick up some meds and supplements. Now I want to worm everyone! and put them all on supplements, just to be sure!! I hate it when anything, or anybody, gets sick! Makes me a nut case!
But anyway,

That darn lethal gene... I honestly would not think he could have worms unless he was outside or with a chicken that had been? I could be wrong on this but I really thought worms only became an issue when they are on the ground. I personally would start with the vitamins and watch him. If he shows symptoms of worms or cocci, then I would treat him but not until then. Just my opinion and how I do things. I tend to start out slow and see...

However, I just found this thread....https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=523129 Only you know how he is acting. I would treat for cocci before worms. I've read they can get it while still in the brooder. I've never experienced it, but others have.

Morning! Paula I hope your lil guy is ok!

Quiche just came out of the oven - roasted red pepper with caramelized onion and garlic
Now shredded beef pasties go in
Also made balsamic fruit salad
Shortcakes
Greek cucumber salad
Charcuterie plate with 5 cheeses and toasted baguette
Oh and grapefruit juice and blood oranges squeezed for mimosas

Now off for a wine tasting/ beach bachelorette party weekend!
