We'll miss you!

So am I counting this right, you have 9 2 weekish babies and five 1 weekish babies and still four older kids?
Julie

I'm assuming that is directed at me?

Yep, that's the official count right now. I will also have more hatching in 2 weeks so they will be 4 weeks old (and hopefully sexed) by the swap. Hoping for a good hatch of silkied from this bunch. From the hatch last week I have 4 frizzled and possibly one silkied frizzle and the rest are smooth. I will post all available babies (pairs/trios) on my website as their sex is determined. The 4 oldest ones are on there already and baby photos of the others are there as well.

It always seems I feel the need to update my list right after the master list goes up. I swear I don't mean to be a pain in the....

I just returned from the Renaissance Faire after a marvelous weekend of showing, selling, and trading feathery things.
I traded my last 2 feather maskes for a 32 pound tarantula made of gears and railroad spikes- he's fantastic! (I plan to make at least 3 more new and improved masks for the swap-color suggestions, anyone?)
I traded a few feather hair pins and a comb for some beautiful carved myrtlewood spoons.
And, most unexpectedly, I traded/sold 2 rooster pelts I had up as a display to decorate my booth.

Now my motivation to make feathered things is much greater. I NEED MORE FEATHERS!!!

Anyone processing between now and the swap should save me feathers- I'll buy them as long as they're unbroken! I can justify spending money since My last 2 pelts earned me some. I want any feathers I can get but I am actively looking for more turkey and pheasant feathers.
I also really want some of those nice LONG saddle and sickle feathers. I would take an old, scrawney, mean rooster if it came with those nice feathers... seriously. All my roos have shortish tails that have been damaged in fights amongst the roosters. I always drool over pics of phoenix roosters and others who have the long tails... I really want one. Well, I want the feathers of one, anyway. But I'll take him dead or alive. Don't care what color or pattern. Temperment doen't matter since I don't plan to keep him long... if anyone has an extra/expendable long-tailed rooster let me know!
My room mates are gonna kill me!

I need to add that I have a 4 year old Rhode Island hen that is super friendly named Lady, I also have a Barred Rock hen that is one that needs a new home! I will also only bring them if someone expresses an interest in them.

So... anyone have suggestions for which colors/patterns/combinations I should make my next set of masks?
I'm just looking for inspiration here, not commitment to buy or trade (though if you WANT to do a special order let me know now and I will start it soon!) At this point I have used some of just about every color on one of my masks, so now I am looking for ideas for new combinations.

My feather collection includes the following colors (genders included to indicate feather shapes):
gold laced (hen)
splash blue laced red (hen and roo)
silver penciled (hen)
black (hen and roo)
barred black and white (hen and roo)
buff (mostly hen)
red and black (roo)
white (mostly hen)
gold/brown with black (EE hen)
red with white spots (mostly roo)
mahogany with white spots (not many of either yet)

What colors would you like to see?
Keep in mind one mask will likely be a raffle donation- you could win it!

I have 2 English and 2 French. Are you sure you want the English? Frenchies are so much more portable and shed a whole lot less!

I love the Pacific Northwest Native masks, Tlingit mostly. I don't know how fine a pattern you can make with feathers, but those can be done with red, black, white, and maybe a little tan or gold. You appear to have those colors available.

Definitely English. And we already have shedding dogs, more fur is not going to make a difference at this point!

An intrigueing idea! I hadn't thought of that, but using my solid colors together could make some super cool designs! I will have to do some research into the masks you mentioned. I have tons of research on red tailed hawk designs and am familiar with Tlingit dance regalia, but I am having trouble bringing a msk to mind... but already the ideas are forming of what I could do.
Thanks for the suggestion!
