Love the brooders! I have two reformed rabbit hutches in my garage that I use, they work really well to hold the heat in. Bishopschickens says it will actually be about 5 weeks before I get chicks, which works out perfectly for me as I should have a mostly empty brooder available then. So, they won't be here in time for the swap, but I'll have LEMON BLUE COCHINS!!!

I have Lemon Blue Cochin eggs in my Brinsea right now and crossing my fingers all goes well.

Those lemon blue cochin eggs have the status of "science project". The eggs were shipped from San Diego and delivered to the wrong POBox an accident on my local PO folks. Luckily the next day after expected delivery the "other" person turned in the box.... so, my fingers are crossed for success of some kind.

To handle the times of occasional overflow of young birds my hubby put the finishing touches on an extra coop in the barn for me. It may become a breeder pen. I checked with my local feed store and they are getting in BLRW in April. I think I am going to add some and see how they mature. We have a home made roo that is Jersey Giant / RLW X and very striking and I thought some hens of the BLRW variety might be a good mix for him. When I asked one of the girls there (her private collection is huge) about the Salmon faverolle's she said they were very fragile as a chick and the store lost quite a few compared to other breeds .. what are the thoughts here? Are they?

Maybe hatchery Favs are fragile, but not breeder stock. I don't think I've ever lost a Fav chick. (Knock on wood) They are hardy little boogers!

Just wanted to say "Hi" to everyone, I haven't been on here in a long time.

We plan on attending the poultry swap and so far we have a request for a dozen quail eggs for Silkie chicken.
I might also bring goat milk soap, feather jewelry and possibly a few chicks or quail.

We probably have to deliver birds and goats to Portland prior to the swap but since I do not have any request for birds, I will actually get to meet people and shop this time, very excited about that! My goats take a break from kidding that week which worked out very well.

I went back several pages looking for the actual swap list but didn't see it , so if there was anything that anyone wanted from me, please feel free to email.

I am looking for Marans, Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, Buff Orpington hens, Pheasants, more Ancona ducks, Lavender Ameraucana hens, and I desperately need a good quality white Silkie roo.

Looking forward to meeting the people I haven't met yet, seeing the people we did meet and buying and trading lots of great stuff.

I will check it out then.

Looks like there is some interest in goat cheese and heirloom veggie starts, so I will bring some of those too.

Geebs, I would love to trade you for some BC Marans chicks/ eggs.
