Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

I am so glad my feed store has canceled their orders for the next few weeks (can't sell enough chicks)! However, I think I could resist even if they hadn't - I've reached "chick overload"
lol.png
I am counting down the weeks till the swap....I love these babies but they gotta go...they all gotta go...

You'll be sad when it's all over and the chick dust has settled.

Probably but when I need my fix, I'll hatch a couple Seramas

LOL Tallyho, I did the same thing the other day and came home with some cochins, even though I have waaaay too many eggs in the incubator, I just want a big variety of hens so I keep getting eggs and pick out one or two and then sell the rest, but the feed store got me, and I bought chicks instead of selling chicks!

I went again and I resisted! (They didn't have my feed yesterday.) What did you bring home?

I got my boys some Cochins, they really wanted to add a cochin, sizzle and a Polish this year. The cochins are bought, though I only plan to keep one, the sizzles are in the incubator, and the Polish are in the mail!

Now if I could just get my hands on a nice frizzle Serama I would be happy, well that and if all my eggs would hatch! My first batch is suppose to hatch today, but no pips and no peeping yet, it is worrying me, I have never had under 85-90% hatch so not to hear anything right now has me freaking out!
hmm.png
Not to mention these eggs are being hatched for a friend so I don't want to disappoint him! Oh well, I guess it is out of my hands! I am going to a show this weekend up in Monroe, taking 2 of my sons with me, and I am hoping there will be some Seramas there, REALLY hoping there will be a frizzle, or some eggs!!!

We will see!

Hello Everyone. For the swap. I will be bringing at least a few of each. Younger birds, mostly pullets. Cockerels on request..just figured pullets will be more popular.

I have:

Delaware
Rhode Island Reds...came from very dark large parent stock.
Partridge Chantecler Pullets...from hatchery...will be 6-7 weeks old @ time of swap.
Mottled Javas....I traded for hatching eggs from a nice local breeder with beautiful parent stock
Black Australorp
Americaunas
Easter Eggers
Welsummers...absolutely gorgerous but I don't have very many.

I want:

Mille Fleur Bantam Cochin...got this one covered already from K 7 Menagerie...can't wait.
Silkie chicks for my daughter...black, white, or something different...the youngest chicks I can find...preferably day olds or week olds.
Show Girl. The sweetest looking one I can find...just for fun.
Guinea Keets... just a couple for my friends since only 1 hatched.
Please don't let me buy anything else...I have too many chickens and very tired of adding on to the coop.

I have a show girl (maybe 2) available...I can't promise you anything on the last one though

We all have this problem especially at the swap. My daughter is keeping my money this year again and making me fill out papers in triplicate before I buy anything

Cloverleaf, I will be updating in just a couple hours so hold off please
big_smile.png
I'm hobbling today after falling in the garage so everything is going slower than I had hoped. I'm updating the photo set for everyone and then I'll post a list.

Ameraucanas shouldn't and don't lay olive eggs

edited, read that wrong.

I have 4 Ameraucana hens available, all lay a very nice blue egg, however only 1 is good for purebred breeding. 3 have only one muffs/beard allele, so they will pass on the chances or their offspring will for clean faced offspring.

If anyone has extra roosters, culls, or stew hens that you don't want to see again... I may be interested in what you have, including banties. But do note, they are going to the big chicken coop in the sky.

Updated list:

Want: Watermelon goat milk soap! Extra birds to eat (I have no place to raise them in Oregon)

Have:
Plant Starts if all goes well:
Tomato: Roma, sweetie, gold nugget, early girl.

Herbs: Basil

Other: Morning glory-turns out my blue with yellow throat of last year were not as labeled! They really are darker blue with white throats.

Seeds: Nasturtium and Morning glory if you chose to direct sow

Vanilla Extract!!!

Real Madagascar beans from Madagascar and vodka! Not that ebay stuff from Paupa New Guinea and no sugar added to give off a fake sweetness. I've made them going by the federal minimum of about 14 ounces of beans per gallon of vodka, so there is about 3.5 beans per 4 ounce jar. Vanilla extract, not vanilla vodka. LOL $8 each or 2/$15. It is unfiltered and if you shake it up, you can get little vanilla specks in your baked goodies!

Goji (wolfberry) starts.
