Oregon Spring Poultry Swap May 5, 2012 in Canby!!!

We have decided to part with our entire Urch/Stichler breeding group. We have the two cock birds that I mentioned in previous posts, as well as around 50 chicks. We bought 25 chicks last year from Urch-Turnland hatcheries, kept the best of them and these chicks are out of those few birds. We have one pen of chicks has an Urch cockerel over two of our hens as well. All chicks are toe punched and most are wing-banded for ease of record keeping.

From the breeder direct, these birds are $6 per day old chick. We will have some day old Urch chicks, $5ea ($7/pullet, $3/cockerel if you want them sexed) we will also have started chicks for $7ea ($9/pullet, $5/cockerel if you want them sexed).

We would love to see these go to another Dominique enthusiast, if a Dominique breeder is serious and wants to prepurchase, we do have three hens from this line, but if not we will keep them for egg layers for summer and part with them in the fall.

For a non-breeder: the Dominique is an excellent dual purpose bird, great backyard bird. Hens are good layers and will raise their own chicks in the spring, Cocks are excellent flock guardians with docile personalities and make a good heritage meat bird.

:) Thanks everyone! See you at the swap!

I've asked before and gotten no response, but is there anyone who has a corner of their rain/shade tarp they can let me "borrow"? I have a card table for my jams (and chicken poetry books) and a coatrack/hatstand kind of pole for the chicken tea cozies and potholders. That's all the space I need, but I worry that I will either fry from sun or not be able to put out fabric stuff due to rain. I plan to get there fairly early, and could help you set up your tent.

I will probably risk coming in any event, but it would relieve my mind if I knew I'd be protected from the elements.

Sorry Cathy, I hadn't seen you post about that before. I'm sure I will have room under my quick shade (which I need to buy this week, thanks for the reminder! LOL My sister did some damage to my last one, and when it got left up in the rain, mother nature put it out of it's misery). :)

BTW, I AM posting an updated list today! I swear!! LOL

Thanks!!

I should have room too! I am supposed to be getting my dads 10 by 10, it's older but sturdy! other wise i will have a 6 by 6 I will probably bring both and decide at swap which one I want to use, but either way I should have room.

Been awhile since I have been on here. Very busy. I need to be taken off the list. I am still coming however, I will not be bringing anything unless it has already been ordered from me. I have only had 2 geese laying- only one of those breeding- and she has chosen not to lay on her nest yet. I just put some of her eggs in the incubator. My first and only Muscovy drake was hit and killed by a tractor. My second and only Muscovy drake was attacked by a predator and died. A couple of my hens are laying on eggs but have not candled yet to see if they are fertile, and if they are- do not know when they will hatch. I am hatching Bourbon Red Poults in the incubator and sold out until the middle of May. Also, just processed broilers yesterday and sold out by the time I arrived at the processor. Next batch will be ready in 4 weeks. I was hatching Black Copper Marans- and sold them before they hatched.

I will still be coming and at this point I have nothing to bring. Possible by then I may have some BR fertile eggs available. My incubator is full and at the moment they have taken a break from laying.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting new people !

Japanese chicks - black tailed buff, lavenders, greys and blacks
Various hatching eggs - Americaunas, Olive Eggers, Easter Eggers, Orpington, Japanese, Dominique
A very nice black Americauna cock - very, beautiful, show quality but having problems hatching chicks from him so not for breeding.
1yr old pair of Black Tail Buff Japanese - great little birds, good producers, just focusing on other varieties. These two are med length leg.
Two Dominiwue cock birds - from reputable breeder but not what we are needing for our lines right now, very nice looking birds.
Vegetable starts - lots of tomatoes, beans, peas, etc.
Feeder roaches - our birds LOVE these! They are loaded with live proteins and other nutrition the birds cannot get from a plant based diet alone. We will sell about 30 (w/ 1 adult pair) for $10. These multiply fast, are extremely easy to care for, and are not an invasive species if they happen to escape (our weather is too cold). They eat almost anything, love oranges :). They are slow moving and flightless so it takes away from the ick factor, but the birds really LOVE these guys, great for training aids. Perfect way to bring some animal protein to your birds without worrying what else those bugs have fed on.

Male Gray Cockatiel about 3 yo?, I adopted him about a year and a half ago ~ Cuckoo is a Pretty Bird ~ whistles, talks, loves attention (talking to, not handling) and live jam sessions (he will make lots of happy sounds, which isn't always appreciated by all, but he has a lot of fun!). He prefers not to share really close quarters with other birds. He likes to have his space, and when he has that he seems to get along just fine with others. He has been housed with another cockatiel, and a pair of budgies and white doves. Cuckoo is a hand fed bird that has not been handled in awhile, but where he used to live he had free flight times and he always came back to his cage. He is very personable, and looking for a good home to take him in.

Male Lutino/White Cockatiel ~ Lilu ~ hatched spring 2011, not hand fed, and handled very little, bought as a companion for Cuckoo. Very pretty bird that we hoped was a she, but is not. Lilu likes to be talked to and comes up to the cage front to listen. He does not like to be handled, and we don't push him. Paid $65 for him, and if I could re-home him for $25 that would be awesome, and totally open to trading.

There is a Triple Roof Parakeet Cage by Prevue, Dimensions: 26" L x 14" D x 22 ½" wire spacing. Used gently approx. Best Offer ONLY AFTER Birds have been re-homed. I will use this cage to bring them to the swap if I still have them.

Really, really, want a reliably broody hen (frequently, annoyingly, broody) of any breed, prefer Silkie or Chochin. Prefer younger hen or slightly older if still plenty of good years left, prefer non-banty type (don't want my other hens to pick on her because she is small) . Will be placing black sex-link eggs under her each spring to refresh my flock. My brooder will become a pet and kept in luxury for the balance of her life.

Will trade 1 Buff Orpington or willing to pay reasonable $.

Add to the above....Raspberry starts...cleaning up the patch and have some to sell :)

Would love to see her run with another emu rather then running alone or chasing the gator around the field! As we come into the last week before the swap, updates are going to get insane. When you post an update, PLEASE post your ENTIRE list, so I can just copy and paste. If you post something you just want added or changed of your existing list, it's not gonna happen...sorry!
