Oregon

TO ANYBODY NEAR SALEM-Somebody reported my chickens so by salem law I have to get rid of them . I am fighting it of course and I have some good leads but I need a backup plan if I do end up having to get rid of my chickens. Would anybody be willing to take care of my chickens for me until I can legaly own them again? Salem is in the procces of passing an ordinance so you probably wouldn't have to take care of them for too long, plus I would be willing to pay for your trouble. My chickens are very tame and most of them are exelent layers. If you live close enough to salem, oregon and you have some extra room in the coop please consider the possibility of doing this for me. PM me if you can do me this favor.

Oh no, thanks for telling me!

Anyway, my neighbor Sharon is always helping me out with my own chicken questions. She's a master gardener and she used to work at the Urban Farm Store down on SE Division. The article tells all about it. I'm really happy for her that she's getting this press, but mostly I'm happy for other chicken owners in Portland that might be able to use her services. I think it's a really cool idea.

I've met Sharon and she seems great. I'll use them.

I'm coming from SE WA to Oregon City, Or tomorrow, with silkies in tow, to take some birds to other people I show with and pick up a brooder. If anyone is interested in adolescent black or white silkies, or white showgirls, and can meet tomorrow en route or in Oregon City, let me know. Now is the time to start conditioning young birds for the fall shows. I trimmed beaks/nails and pulled broken feathers on these guys/girls.
