Actually, the EEs I've gotten from Wilco in the past have been really pretty and laid nice blue and green eggs. They'll sell them as "Ameraucanas" but they are EEs.

But there's several people around here that are doing EEs and OEs...AyeUpChuck should have some really pretty OEs I think...

This is a sad sad day at our house. I found our beloved Silkie, Daisy, dead this afternoon. She was about 3 years old (possibly 4). She went broody and faithfully hatched 4-5 batches of chicks for me per year. Never squaked or complained when I dug around under her to check eggs, or when I took her chicks away and brought them in the house. Now I feel awful that I never let her raise her own babies, I think that's all she really wanted. She was my "lesson pony" for my new 4Hers that didn't know how to handle a bird, they always started with Daisy. She was such a confidence booster. There's going to be a lot of sad little boys in Canby tonight. Good lord, I can't remember the last time I bawled like a child over the loss of a chicken. I knew her life would not be a long one, she was so hard on her own little system, always broody like that. I just didn't think it would be over quite so soon.
Daisy, your loss is heavy on my heart today, I will love you forever, and no other chicken will ever replace my little misfit, my Daisy Doodle Girl.

How do I get my poor city kids involved in 4-H? I am also interested in finding info for showing birds if any of mine turn out to be show quality? Mostly I want to get the kids involved in 4-H since were stuck in the city for now

Where about are you? We are out in Clackamas County, but Tallyho on here has a group that meets at Alpenrose Dairy.
