I though some of you might like to see my new Doberman puppy. See, just like I told you: same same.





I drove all the way to Salem and the people with the Doberman puppies stood me up. That turned out to be great luck because this week, this lovely red merle boy was in need of a new home. The poor fellow is stressed about losing his home and family but I can tell that he is going to fit in well here.

The trip to Salem wasn't a total waste of time. I came home with 6 Midget White poults and a half grown Midget White tom. Let me tell you that 7 turkeys in a car for nearly 4 hours with the heater going stink something awful.

Gorgeous Aussie boy!!!! Hope he adjusts quickly! I think I would've rather froze with windows down than smell turkey for that long!!!

Nice looking Dobie! How can people do that just get rid of a furry family member. Would they do same with their kids ??? Hopefully you have some experience with Aussies. They take a little special care and especially if they have lost their family.

I don't have any Aussie experience but I have owned several German Shepherds and sight hounds. I've got Papillons now. All very intelligent, high energy, and sensitive to criticism. Also all capable of manipulating people so subtly that the people don't even realize they have been turned into a slave.

The poor dog is heartbroken and trying to escape and go back home. I'm being super careful that he can't get loose. My dog doors go out into 6 ft tall runs, but I can not be certain that he can't scale a 6 foot fence, so I closed the dog doors and he goes out on a leash with me firmly attached to the other end.

He's got really nice manners. So far he has shown absolutely zero interest in the poultry. So, I hope that with some careful supervised introductions, he will be safe with the birds. He's not supposed to have ever seen chickens before, which helps. He was raised around horses, which also helps. He should already know that livestock is not to be chased (touch wood)

A dog could not get in with my birds. But it would be nice to be able to have him follow me around while I do chores like my Papillons do. Their only interest in poultry is in the scrambled eggs for breakfast.

The turkeys are having trouble settling in, too. The poults are crazy wild and fling themselves against the roof of the brooder when I open the door to feed them. They have started to sing when they hear me, so I hope that means we are making progress. Right now, I've got wild quail living in my yard who act tamer than these guys.

Glad he found you!!!! My Newfie Lou is doing well and after his visit to the specialist (don't ask) he was diagnoticed with trachea paralysis, he is 12. The vet says he could have surgery but he is an old guy or we could see how quick it progresses it may be very slow. At this point kind of just taking a wait and see how it goes approach. The vet did remind me however that anything after 8 to 10 years on a Newfie is just an added bonus.

If u want u can jus have some of my eggs for her to sit on, They r pretty fertile I think because when I hatched my last batch I got 3. Sadly 2 got trampled by the ducks and 1 drowned in the water.

Is anyone going to be giving their chickens the pumpkins? We have 2 carved ones that aren't rotting so I think I'll give em to the girls.

Okay if you laugh too hard at my suggestion I 'WILL' hear you! =:~)

I'd like you to start singing when you get out to do the turkey poults befor you open their area. Just any little ditty will do just do it without caution and have fun. If you have neighbors they will think you are looney, like they don't maybe think so already, but give it a week and always bring treats to throw. See what happens and let us know.
