Oregon

Congrats on your poults. No, raccoons will eat turkeys just like anything else. Toms may be successful in fighting them off better, but the can still be injured in the process.

Anyone raise heritage turkeys here in Oregon? I just ordered some Red Bourbon, Penciled and Red Penciled Palm. I did order hatching eggs but there's only one that seemed fertile, so I bought these poults. Kind of excited about having these huge birds free ranging among my chickens. I made sure to get the NPIP certification with them. I have about two acres of grass for them to free range in, all fenced from (some) predators. Do turkeys keep raccoons away?
Roy Palmer has Poults right now i just got 3 really nice toms for Dinners when they grow up .
pm me ill give you his info he is here in florence oregon

They will pant when they are too hot or because of nerves. I put a chicken in a cat carrier or multiple chickens in the dog crate.

Just wondering if anyone has given their chickens raisen's... my chickens go CRAZY over them. It's really funny watching them go after it. Plus it's the only treat that even my skiddish chicks will eat out of my hand.

Oh ya.... anyone have treats that are a hit? My chickens seem to be picky and scratch and raisen's are it so far.
I break up spagetti and give them cooked spagetti and rice. They think it's maggots and worms. They will go crazy over it, especially the spagetti. I do this for the babies as well. You can add any additives you want to the water, like vitamins, electrolytes, worm medicine, chicken soup, olive or corn oil.

Hi :) I'm from Oregon too.

When you're adding the vities, elecrtos, medications etc. .. do you add it before you boil the water? Or do you even boil the water? I want to try this but I'm kinda dumb and kinda smart, so I thought I better ask before I go making a mess.
Thanks :)
