Listen People I had the State VET HERE he had them sent to the LAB and The Lab did a Neucropsy the Lab said it was a Upper Resp I panicked thinking the worst But this is no different then the Common Cold or Flu . Our Weather is wet here in Florence ALWAYS never get above 65 F and Lately we have 70 and 80 Wet one day dusty the next 2

If the Vet thought it was a Bad thing to treat the birds and Let me keep my NPIP then why did he Give me my NPIP back and MEDS ?

Get a grip or maybe go do some reading ,.

I was scared to death because of Panicky people i have talked to a few Vets last couple of days after talking to TIM ,, MATT AND DAK who have bread Longer then any of you who point your fingers

So not only am i sticking with Experienced Breeders IM also listening to Vets 6 Vets advice The Vets have Talked to the Lab and know way more then me on whats going on and one i have known since i was 9 yrs old No in my late 40s told me i was an idiot to panic .

So if you do not wanna Buy from me AWESOME Cause BABY IM CLOSED .................................No feelings hurt here

Quote: That's fine if you want to risk it. But I suppose we all know who not to buy birds from now. Thanks for the heads up.
Listening to all Opinions
but um what do you do with your issues I at Least posted mine . I love how you add everyone in your Personal Opinion Thats just funny as Chicken poop. So every one has to agree with you ? Really ? You must be God ? WTHeck People are ok to have Opinions but when you post every one or we All Is just asnine to me . Maybe ill kill all my chickens and buy from you . Or send the guy to your place that came here and see if you even have the Guts to post
I was talking about Matt and his birds. I was not referencing you at all.

And for the record, I've never had any respiratory issues in my flocks. I've been very lucky. But if I did, I would either cull them, or never ever sell another bird and keep them for my own yard / eggs only. Period. I would NEVER risk another person's birds because of my own selfishness. If you find that offensive, I am sorry, that is not my intent. But that is how it is.

I generally try not to engage Matt because he likes to argue, argue, argue without letting things drop, so I ONLY posted because I simply want to make sure that the newbies that do not have any experiences / knowledge of these issues know both sides, not just what Matt says to be fact.

Quote: I'm not trying to pick a fight either, just want both sides of the story out there, not just newbies thinking that respiratory birds can always be saved, like so many backyard chicken keepers seem to think these days.

Yes I show my birds. And I know that's a risk. And, yes, if I ever had a respiratory issue the birds would be culled.

Yes I sell my birds, but ONLY because I have never had a respiratory issue.

For the record I haven't had a sick bird since starting up again from scratch, and before then it had been 15 years or so. Anyway like I said everyone doesn't have to agree, just saying everyone's experiences aren't equal. Not trying to pick a fight or be insulted.
Then that's my bad, and I do apologize. Your post made it sound like you were breeding birds that had been sick.

I'm not so sure I'm the one that needs to get a grip. Since you're freaking out at me when I was not even talking to you.

But since you mention it, no, I would never buy a bird from someone that has had any respiratory illness that I'm aware of. It's not worth the risk, IN MY OPINION.

Quote: Since i have the Birds that Had the Upper Resp YES you where and you did respond to My personal post. I am not Freaking out I had done that Talked to some breeders and realise that what i have Is no different then the comon cold or flu . My birds are not going to be Carriers even the eggs wont cary issues . But since you asked about what i planed I had actually thought of killing off all my birds even the ones that just Hatched that i had the eggs in the bator before the guy got her I was really scared now since talking to Lab Avian Vets and Other breeders i feel pretty sure i can do this with out ,issues for me or anyone else . I am going to be Closed for the reason I got a Upper resp its no different then the comon cold now if i had a Bacterium or Virus I would be birdless .
So this fall and this winter are you killing off your birds ? Info from one of my avian vets

"Brian is this going to effect other birds wild or not and is it a virus or a cold
Well, a 'cold" is a viral infection of the sinuses and upper respiratory system other birds should be fine in the flock the dust is not good for them stop using hay"

OH EXCUSE ME, the original post where I had quoted Matt had your quote nested in there... Good Lord, I'm sorry. There. Happy?

I know tone can be hard to read into typed posts. But there is LOTS of sarcasm and eye rolling in this post. I know that makes me a B.... but whatever...YOU attacked ME, not the other way around.

No Dear you attacked me first and i responded , You said WE ALL KNOW WHO NOT to Buy from In other words You where telling people not to buy from me . My Aviary is now closed . I trust No one and will continue with my goal with or with out you alls approval i have talked to vets you have not in my case , I have talked to breeders you have not in my case maybe you have in your own case but my issue is what i am concerned with . I do not want to sell to people my lines until i have them going strong and how i want them . If your immune system is down then things like this as with mother nature make them Stronger that is why Its called Survival of the fittest . I may be going back out to my ranch soon so it is no biggy and when you go to those local Swap meets your taking chances I never have ...... Good luck with your Caged Birds

Ok everyone, lets all just take a step back, and breathe... Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Lets just agree to disagree, and move on.
