I have only the chicks and they were really happy out there at two weeks old with only heat lamps. And I was to happy to have them out of the house, so it was win-win. I turned their lights off completely at 9 or 10 weeks old even though they probably hadn't needed them for a while before that.
If you can provide a heat lamp and a good, draft-free building, I think you can put them out almost anytime. And this time of year, the weather is getting warmer all the time too, so it's all good. They love it outside.
