This chick was given to me by a friend and was malnourished so it is smaller than my other 8 week old chickens, BUT Oreo could also possibly be part Banty. It came from my friends free range chickens and her neighbor had chickens as well. he/she had not displayed any rooster like behavior until today. Today Oreo has sort of attacked some of the other chickens twice his/her size! By grabbing the feathers on their neck and not letting go until it gets shaken off. like I said the other chicks are TWICE the size of Oreo. WHAT DO YOU THINK??

The combs on all 4 chicks I got from her are irregular the points are all different sizes, my 4 week old bantam roo has more wattle than any of them. Also, how soon do roosters start to fight?

It looks like a barred rock or Dominque? I don't know the difference except she does look like my barred rock, and she looks like a girl to me.

as far as fighting, I was trying to figure out if I have two banty roo's how soon I might need to separate them, guess I need to wait and see what happens

I am really hoping we ended up with just one!

Thanks! I think Oreo is cute, the other chicks aren't to fond of her right now though!

I have 4 boys and 1 girl Barred Rock they are 9/10 weeks old right now and they battle constantly, but nobody ever gets hurt. I think most of it is just play fighting and the little girl gets some shots into and mine haven't started to crow yet either! Yeah!! LOL Oh and my 5 light brahma boys are 17 weeks old and get along fine, they do alot of posturing though! sizing the other quy up , but again nobody ever seems to get hurt. Seems like i read that if there raised up together the generally figure out who is boss and get along fine? Thats just what Ive heard and so far with my boys it has proven true, Thank goodness!

is posturing when they put their chests together? my little banty roo does that all the time. She does look barred rock to me but more mottled that my other barred rock. She is picking on my buff orp. and my two ee's

yes and running and jumping at each other, and chest bumping too. there just trying to determine the pecking order, at least that is what they told me when I posted that question about the Light brahma boys . Are they all about the same age and size right now?

You know come to think of it, my little girl that is in with the group of 4 BR boys is much darker and does look more mottled up then the boys who are more of a greyish color.

yep the ones doing the chest bumping (I remember boys doing this in school or something similar before they fought!) they are all bantams about the same age (4 weeks) the roo that I know is a roo is a cochin and the other two are polish

I personally would just let them work it out amongst themselves. It will be better in the long run Im sure. Just remember that the girls can be little baddies too! LOL sometimes my girls fought worse then the boys! If there is no blood, no harm no fowl just chicken politics. Again that is a quote from someone on here to me! LOL Sounds like you got a group of normal, happy, healthy kiddos there, enjoy em!
