So.......... Instead of giving our dog all the goodies, (Beef liver, heart, tongue etc.) I should give some of it to the chickens, huh? Do you cook yours or give it to them raw?

doubled-----when we harvest a deer, I have my DH put all the scraps in small portions and freeze them for future dog food. What is left behind from our dog (lucy) the chickens eat. All raw.

It's comes sliced from the store. I will then slice it even smaller and bake it or fry it.

It really gets the dogs attention no matter how its cooked.

We feed our dogs raw, and I do purchase beef liver, gizzards, etc...for their diet. If for some reason I was going to offer the chickens some of these organs I for SURE would not fry it. If I had to I would boil or bake them first, but personally I would just feed them raw. Mother nature does not cook animals feed.

I give my chicks a small amount of beef liver and kidney.

My cats just love live and kidney so when I cook it (boil) then chop in my food processor, there is always a small amount for the chicks, watch your fingers, they go daft for it and nearly take your fingers as well.

Make sure it is cooked to remove the sign of blood. Once a chicken, like pheasants, see blood or anything red, it associates that with the meal you just fed them. If they like the meal you gave, they may just take to your flock. I have had two birds literally eat themselves out of house and home.

Me too. I think it depends on how much room they have to roam. Mine free range a lot so I think that helps as to where chickens/birds that are confined are more apt to turn on each other if they see a wound.
