Organic Feeds

I would say that 100% of feed stores can get organic food. You have to let them know there is demand, though.

Our small town feed store does carry the organic feed, it's just 3x's the cost of regular-almost $30 a bag!

Hello, I was reading about some kind of feed people were feeding their chicks and they said humans could eat it too,,,can anyone tell me what it was,,not saying I`m gonna eat it ,but I found it interesting,,thought it may be some kind of wormer,,thanks alot,,j&amac

Whoa, that's tough !!!!! Here the difference isn't quite so daunting. 50# of non-organic is $14.00 and 50# 0f organic is $20. Not quite 30% more....

That was probably a conversation about Codex Food Grade DE (Diatomaceous Earth)

I've been feeding my young chicks organic feed. It's "Nature's Best" made by a feed store locally. I'm paying $23 for 50 lbs(that's with 6% PA sales tax) - that is pullet starter. They seem to be doing very well on it. I don't feed my adult birds organic because of the cost although if I had a smaller flock I probably would.

I haven't gotten a price quote from him though...I probably should. It's ok, because I such a small flock that I don't think that it will matter too much. If get a ton more (which I don't think I will because my BF would kick me out of the house to live with the chickens) I might to think twice about it.....
