I found a local source for organic feed, but after much reading and searching I am wondering if it is ok since it is not pelleted or crumbled. It is just mixed together. The protein percentages, etc., look good. The ingredients are corn, roasted soybeans, oats, barley, wheat, kelp, poultry mineral, and calcium supplement. The soy free layer has roasted dry edible beans such as kidneys, black turtle beans, etc instead of soybeans.

really can not say much without an idea of the nutrient composition. The problem with it not being pellets or crumble is making sure the bird gets all the nutrients. The mineral mix is likely to be very fine and not eaten. Also, not sure of the vitamin levels and the form they are in.

I was feeding a locally produced, organic, soy-free, certified non-GMO non-pelleted. They waisted so much it became way too expensive. Their water bucket was filled with sludge, so, it was clear that too much of all that goodness was not being eaten by the ducks. I have found another good organic feed that is pelleted, they are eating less and not so much waisted. It only took a couple of days for them to adjust.

Where do you get your pelleted organic feed from? The price isn't too bad on the local stuff that I found ($22/50#), but you hit on just what i was worried about (wasting the vitamin part).

Sorry for the delay in answering.
This feed comes from Rogue Feed Chicken Layer Pellets, Soy Free, Organic, 40 lbs for $22.15. I think they are located in Oregon. I buy it from Azure Standard: https://www.azurestandard.com. They also have a chick crumble. It took my ducks a few days to adjust but they are doing fine with it now.

So it's a mash.. it would depend, mashes can be wasteful, though frankly i find chickens worse for it as they love to scatter the feed to find what they desire.
