Organic, really??

Probably next to nothing is truely organic at a farmers market....just fresher.

You're right! I look for fresh, not organic. Besides, I can't eat tomatoes from the store - they have removed all flavor.

That is so true with most fruit and veggies from the store they so lack the flavor they use to have back when I was growing up.Im sure they can now grow a boat load of produce now but they lost quality along the way....
Now that all my fruit, nut and berries trees/bushes are in the ground in a year or 2 I will have plenty and no need to buy from the store...
At least now I will know where all my produce comes from and it will taste good....

I think buying local and knowing who grows your food is helpful if you can't grow your own. CSAs are growing in popularity; and many of them, while not certified organic, believe in growing in a sustainable way. I buy locally when I can, organic when I can, and just do the best I can. That is all any of us can do. I agree that we cannot expect the entire world to be fed by backyard gardeners. It is just not practical; most people do not have access to land. Many do not have the inclination to grow their own food. So commercial organic is at least better for the planet than regular commercial ag. Baby steps, I think,
