Organic Starter-- Nature's Best or Scratch & Peck?

We feed Scratch and Peck Starter and Grower here to our birds. (We supplement with oyster shell on the side because we have roosters too.) I was ordering directly from them, but then realized that my co-op (Azure Standard) sells even larger bags of Scratch and Peck for a better price so I get it from them during our coop delivery. Unless something similar started getting made locally, I don't see myself every switching over. My birds love it and don't waste a single bit of it.

I received the ingredient tags for the Nature's Best Soy free feed that is coming out. They use both canola meal (not apparently certified organic) & canola oil. This is a huge disappointment to me. I know they are experts, but there appears to be a question about the amount of canola that can be fed to brown egg layers without producing a fishy taste in the eggs. I picked up a bag of Scratch & Peck Naturally free grower this morning & it looks great. Not as dusty looking as the local soy free mash I am able to get. I am presently feeding Nature's Best regular organic pellets, but am anxious to se how my birds like the S & P. After waiting for years for Nature's Best to make soy free, I will probably not be trying it when it comes out. The S & P will up the budget for chicken feed if I go to that exclusively, but I want the best eggs for myself. I will have to see how they like it & how much more work going back to mash entails. My local feed store carries this for $31.99/40lbs.
