Would there be any benefit to raising chicks on an organic starter over conventional and then switching to conventional feed as they age to keep costs down? My thought process is telling me I would end up with a healthier bone broth at butcher time without sacrificing too much of my wallet?

Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

I also see no benefit.

Organic or not... doesn't change nutrient profile. Also many organic things can still be poisonous.... cyanide, pyrethrin, etc. Just food for thought.

Choose the food you like the ingredients and nutrient profile best.

And not all organic things are created equal... this is were looking at the nutrient profile comes in.

Pay attention to the protein and amino acids specifically to get your healthiest birds, eggs, and broth... But also pick a feed that is readily available to you, with a high enough turn over that it has a fresh mill date regardless of season. Shop around... I save $3 per bag on the same feed by planning ahead and buying at another location when I'm already there anyways.

Good luck with your chicks! :wee

Probably will get fresher and better quality going with the organic feed Ive been looking at. Seeing as it would need to be ordered in through a dealer, but I will shop around a bit more still.
Got 2 weeks till my chicka get here to get it sorted out.
