Organic vs. regular layer feed

Quote:
There's more to it than that though. Not only are you getting clean, non-GMO feed, but the land that produced it has been free from synthetic fertilizers and pesticides for at least three years, the farmer is probably using no-till practices and crop rotations and is being a better steward of the land. Also, sales of certified organic products have saved many a family farm in the past decade. Although big ag has moved into many of the organic markets, there is still a large number of small farms that are staying afloat because of the increased margin from organics. Supporting organics supports family farms. Showing a demand for organics in your area brings the infrastructure, suppliers, and competition to lower prices.

The added value is not only what you are not getting (pesticide residues and such) but that you are supporting an alternative agricultural and food system that promotes environmental stewardship, conservation, and animal welfare.

It has been proven that GMO chicken feed WILL COME THROUGH to the eggs they lay. GMO's are then deposited into YOUR system. The human system cannot find a way to rid itself of these toxins; no way to digest what it doesn't recognize. Thus, having your chickens eat gmo-corn will pass through to the people who eat your eggs. Granted, most store bought eggs are from chickens eating gmo-corn. So we have this in our systems if we have not done several flushes of detoxifying efforts. However, THE REASON that I'm raising my own hens is so that I DO NOT ingest GMO's from MY OWN PERSONAL EGGS. If you are eating gmo-corn through your eggs already then why are you raising your own??? It certainly is more expensive that $2/dozen...????

definitely price. I dont think anyone will argue that organic is always better for the most part its just a matter of if you wanna pay that much more for it.

A lot of the things you're saying are "proven" literally make no sense. Genes don't pass through from a chicken's feed to its eggs.

So I ask you to post a credible scientific reference of genes moving from GMO feed, into a chicken's eggs. No blogs - a scientific paper. You say it's been proven, so show us.

There's literally no correlation between organic farms and no till, sustainability, or better stewardship. These things are completely unrelated to Organic - and are present in both organic and conventional agriculture, and missing in both. You're not supporting any of these things by buying organic.

95% of organic food produced in the US is produced by 6 companies. Organics IS Big Ag.

Makes me think of the days when Dr's said smoking was not bad for you. I just think there is always going to be a negative to chemicals and I try and stay as organic as I can. What is linked to what who knows but Im pretty confident the stuff they put in feed and our food cant be good for any biological creature.

Interestingly (in the same vein), honey sold in stores can by labeled "Pure Honey" when in actuality the producers are allowed to cut the honey 50/50 with corn syrup. My hubby is a bee keeper. If you'd like to know how to tell if honey is pure, unpasteurized, straight-from-the-comb send me an email & I'll tell you.
Could I have a reference for this? It sounds like one of those things that are just made up. Also, this forum isn't the place for you advertising your business.

Commercial honey has its issues - mostly that it gets all the pollen filtered out of it (to prevent allergic reactions) - but it is honey.

There's just as many "chemicals" in organic foods as there are in non-organic - and they often have drastically higher pesticide loads.
