Orloff Thread

No Orloffs. Cry Cry Cry. Nature's Hatchery really let me down. I posted what happened under hatcheries... I won't bother anyone here with the details.

Does anyone have Russian Orloff chicks (pullets) for sale? I live in Alpharetta, GA so if you ship 1 day olds that would be awesome. If you are close (within 3 hours) I will come get them. I am afraid of doing eggs because I can't have Roosters in my neighborhood but if I can't find chicks, I would appreciate eggs too.

Thank you in advance,

DAWN

This is my first year with chickens and I have picked up several breeds to try out. I was about half way through chick season here (by that I mean the feed stores) and found the Russian Orloffs on here. I am still think they are going to be my breed of choice. I love them. I got 2 hens and 1 roo (got to love buying "pullets" lol) and the roo, Crook, is the sweetest bird in my coop. Unfortunately he does have a crooked beak, so no babies from him. He has turned into such a pet that I just cant send him to freezer camp as long as he is happy and healthy.
I will post some picks of mine later, as I am not at home right now (baby sitting for a friend).
The other roo that has made the cutting list in my flock is a Speckled Sussex and until I really lock into a breed for more long term goals, I am thinking I may try hatching out some chicks from him and the Orloff girls just for fun.

Ok, pictures.

Ah, the Orloffs! Utterly fantastic breed. I have a cockerel myself. I used to have another cockerel and two pullets, but they were wiped out by a disease I believe was hereditary. I love their gorgeous game-like body carriage and their cold hardiness. Definitely a breed to cluck about!
