orloffer's Spoo Puppy thread! 🐩

Understandable- puppies can get carsick easily, and drooling is also a sign of stress. I'd sure be stressed if I wasn't feeling good, in a scary new thing with new people, and away from all of the people that I knew.
:thumbsup
Is it the same food that she had at the breeder?
Honestly, I'd want to get her used to just eating kibble. No dog ever starved with a full bowl in front of it. Give her just kibble in a bowl, give her 15 minutes to eat it, and anything that she doesn't eat gets taken away and added to her next meal. She'll be fine, and when she's hungry enough, she'll eat. You want her to eat just kibble because imagine you had her staying at a boarding house or a relatives house- it's a massive inconvenience to cook meat three times a day for a dog to eat.
Do it when she's calm and sleepy. Leave, and come back in when she stops whining (give it like 10 seconds of quiet before going into view). She'll learn that whining won't do her anything, and also how to tolerate being away from people/
I will try these.

It is very hard to photograph a dark-haired dog, especially with bad lighting. Here are the best ones:

It is the same food she had at the breeder. The breeder had kibble out for the puppies all the time, but from what I understand, several times a day she would offer kibble with a bit of cooked meat mixed in to get them to eat it.

So far Tessa will eat kibble hand-fed, and sometimes from a bowl, if it is moistened (preferably with chicken broth) and mixed with a bit of cooked meat (chicken is what we had on hand). If I just offer her plain kibble in a bowl, she completely ignores it and continues to complain while we eat our own meal nearby. The breeder gave us a very small bag of mixed "adult dog kibble," which she had been using as treats. Tessa will eat pieces of that some of the time, but the supply is not going to last more than a couple days.

OMG I LOVE HER
Here are some poodle pictures taken yesterday!
She likes going outside, and seems to especially like to chew on oak leaves, acorn caps, twigs, grass, pebbles, and ornamental cherries. I can't tell whether she will actually swallow them, so I try to remove them from her mouth. They are pretty much unavoidable in the backyard, so I am not sure how to stop her. :hmm We also need to start working on separation training, because when awake she starts whining even if someone is 5 feet away from her exercise pen. When she is not whining, though, she is the cutest thing! I tried working with her on eye contact and settling on her bed today. She will already lie down and be calm on her bed. Good puppy! But I can't seem to lure her into a down on any other surface. She just stands up and follows my hand with her head. Any advice? Should I just keep working on settling on the bed first?
