Ornamental plants and free range chickens

Will free range chickens stay away from toxic plants, or do I need to become an amateur botanist and ID and remove anything toxic? They get layer pellets each day, kitchen scraps a few times a week in the evening, and free range in the back yard.

They won't know the difference, at least mine don't. They eat whatever they find.

It depends... If they have a wide choice of plants to choose from, they'll tend to not eat ones that are toxic, but sometimes there's something they shouldn't have that they really want to chew on for some reason. I think it's fairly rare that they actually eat enough to harm themselves, despite that.
