Ornithology and Birdwatching

Pics
I just saw our resident pair of red-shouldered hawks mating! They've been very active with their territorial displays and calls this past week or so, and I've seen the male carrying nesting materials!

I wish I got a picture or video, they were in a tree right at the end of our driveway, but it happened so quickly!

There may be some Krider's red-tails here, too. I saw a big white bird and a light brown bird with light belly and white tail, accompanied by juvenile red-tail calls (though I don't know if they were the ones making the calls).

Just got back from a trip to Mexico and I got to do a lot of birding.

I have been thinking about penguin tongues today. Rather terrifying. I am glad that I am not responsible for giving oral medication to penguins, as I find that ducks are painful enough with their serrations & have made my fingers bleed in the past. Penguins must be much worse.

Hopefully not seen near your chickens 😅
Oh, they're always watching the chooks. I see them at least once a day, but so far even though they watch, they haven't attempted to grab any of the girls. They're taking care of chicks right now, probably too busy to try for a chicken. I see them with snakes and squirrels in their talons while they fly over.
