I have 16 new Orpington pullets - approx 4 months old - and they've started pecking behaviour. They have ample space, buy tend to stick close together anyway. I haven't let them out to free range yet with my other hens. I've applied Blu-kote and peck-no-more (kind of- it's hard to apply). I also removed the one chick who I saw doing the bulk of the pecking.
Should I do anything else? I was thinking of putting the pecker in with my big hens tonight to see if they can sort her out. Is this a good idea? I read a thread about using duct tape, but don't know if this will help. How do I know if the behaviour is entrenched?
Also, the buggers are hard to catch! Any tips?
