I have a single chick that I got from the farmstore when it couldn't stand due to spraddle leg. After several days of splinting, she/he is 100%. The chick had company of another injured one, but that one passed. I normally keep the special needs ones at my home that need extra care and adopt out the well ones. This one is lonely. Not going to go out and get another one. Have had a couple offers from people who have a hen about to hatch that said they might take this chick. My question: this chick was born approx 5-19-2010, wyandotte pullet (supposedly) on the small side. Would the mother hen accept this one or try to harm it since not one of hers? Thanks for any input.

The hen would take the chick if you put it under her as her other chicks are hatching, otherwise she may harm the chick that isn't hers (I just had this happen to one of my chicks today)...But I've never had orphan chicks that would take to the hen.
