Orphaned kittens...Sad news

She may have an infection that could be managed with antibiotic. I would without hesitation immediately get her to the vet - it may not be as big a deal as you fear. I couldn't let her lay there and suffer. Please find a way to get her medical help immediately. Having kittens at her age was an enormous burden on her body and if she wasn't in great shape to begin with....... If she hasn't been eating and drinking with gusto, she needs help big time.

At the very least get her temperature. It could be lots of things, or even a retained placenta. If she's running a temp, then treatment with penecillin would be very inexpensive.

I have given her a shot of penicilian to ward against infection. And before anyone jumps down my throat for giving a shot instead of taking her in for pills or liquid, I have the dosing for the shot from the vets!

The kittens are doing wonderful. They wake up to be fed and stimulated then wiggle around some and go back to sleep. It's funny watching and listening to them because one will move and upset another and then you get a little squawk. I go running thinking they are going to want to be fed and they are back asleep.

AWWWWwwwwwwww

My husband found a litter of kittens 9 years ago. ALl but two were dead, mother nowhere to be found, the kittens were only a week old. We took them both in and found a friend with a cat nursing her own babies, she took the two orphans for a few days - the one kitten died from un-known reasons, probably just too long without food.
We then took the other one home and bottle fed him, wiped his little bum etc.... he's now sitting on the back of my chair. SPOILED ROTTEN....

I'm hoping your mom cat does ok.... the kittens should do fine if you have to bottle feed them!

Sounds like they are doing great. I'm the town's small animal hospital here...LOL People bring me their birds, rabbits and squirrels that the cats drag up. We have a big population of wild cats around here and people will stumble across their babies and they generally end up here with me. I have one cat that I hand raised and kept, but she doesn't have any idea she is a cat. She has the strangest behaviors. Thats one reason why I kept her. She goes crazy if her feet touches the ground.

Farmer Kitty, Good for you for doing what you can for the momma cat, and taking the kittens in and raising them. Ya know sometimes things happen and a person just can't run an animal to the vet, that is just the way it is for some of us. I don't understand some of the comments left by you know who you are, luckily I missed this one, but, have read them on other posts and ya know it just isn't necessary, IMO

I hope your Momma kitty makes it through. I know you have alot to deal with and you are no doubt concerned for her. Bless you for raising her kittens! I had a momma cat decide at 2 days that 7 kittens was to much work and she just quit. In the wild of coarse they would have starved, but I could not let that happen! I raised all 7. I used KMR too and it did great. I was also lucky enough to have another pregnant kitty and she eventually decided to help me. Only at night though! She would go to them when they cried, as soon as they were fed and sleeping though she would leave so I had them on a heating pad on low. Then when hers were born I put them all together and she took care of all 11. I have had alot of cats but there was something special about George(we thought she was a he!). I had to give her away 2 years ago when I moved and I still miss her! Good luck!
