Eighty percent of the time orange cats are male. We had a littler of four once where there were three females and only one male. Your kittens are beautiful! You've done a wonderful job...hope your family is getting over the flu. My kids both had H1N1 - it wasn't fun. Luckly, my husband and I did not get it. It really seems to hit young people harder!

This will be our second female orange kitten, and I think one reason for it is because their mother is a tortie (thus she carries the orange gene?). It is funny though, because like both you, jojo and Robin'sBrood, said, orange cats are usually boys.

Well, I guess I'm not totally sure that Holly isn't a boy, but she really, really looks like a girl to me.

We're feeling quite a bit better, thank you. We've still got quite a bit of coughing and most people's energy isn't all back. But we're on our way!

I had to expand the Holly and Snow White's living quarters this morning – they were able to get out of the old box. I brought in our plastic dog house that nobody uses and took the top off. They're now in that, and have quite a bit more room to bounce around in.

You are right, a patched tabby will throw red girls! Not too often, but if you have red babies out of a patched tabby, you will most likely have some red girls!

In high school, my sister's orange tabby gave birth to 2 orange males and the dad was black. My kitten had an a black whisker...just one...but it was there.

Since then I've had an orange/white male.

and then an orange female who used to be a barn cat but her kittens kept dying I was told and this was more than 9 years ago...she has since been vaccinated and fixed. I still wonder why her kittens would die? anyway....

genetics are interesting, aren't they?


and those kittens are very cute and so happy they are thriving.... glad your family is on the mend.

Hello guys – well, 'little' Snow White went home last Saturday, plump and healthy. But we decided to hold off on giving Holly away – she is very skinny and does not like to eat very much. I'm worried she might be sick – maybe with the same thing the first two kittens had. Her mew changed yesterday to a rough, plaintive one, which I think the first kitten had the day before she died. Or maybe she just has lost her voice. I tried to play a bit with her, but she didn't really want to. She just wanted to sit with me. She still purrs and enjoys being held, but she only eats a little bit a day.

She is not doing well this morning. I think she's dying.

We tried giving her a bottle, and she sucked, but she didn't get very much. She's resting in my sister's arms right now. She looks bad, but she purrs weakly.
