Orpingtons are one of my favourites.
They're good sitters, good layers, friendly, and puffy into the bargain.

My first cockerel was a Buff Orp.

What do you like about Orpingtons?
What made you get them?
Any photos of your Orps?

I'm new to chickens this year and have two flocks.

First flock has 12 18 weekers and 4 have just started laying 7 are sex links and 5 are a mix of Wyandottes and Speckled Sussex.

My second flock has 8 10 week olds of 4 barred rocks and 4 buff orpingtons. This group had loads of personality. One of my BOs is a cockerel, and so far he's a charmer. Already takes care of his girls by herding them away from my feet. When the big girls started laying he rushed into his side of the coop to see what was going on (coop is sectioned off). He made soft calls and trills to the first time layers. He seemed so concerned. He has even started singing the egg song with them. He is so quirky and curious. This little guy has really got me loving orpingtons.
