Who knows a thing or two about Silverlaced English Orpingtons??

I have 5, 4 seem to be males…do they typically have white necks if they’re male and when can you tell this? I have red combs on 4/5 and that happened early on, they’re 11 weeks now…any feedback?

I would say that your assessment is correct that 4/5 are boys. I don’t know about the coloring on the males, but I have Isabel silver laced and Lavender Orpingtons and they red up early—around 6-7 weeks…I still have one of the boys but had to rehome the other one.

My neighbor is breeding them. And yes, the rooster do get silver hackles.
I honestly can't say more about when you can tell if rooster or hen as I don't breed them.

I only see one pullet, the second picture. The rest look to be cockerels. If you're planning on breeding them, don't rehome the extras just yet. Wait to see how they look for at least 6-9 months before you decide who gets to stay.

Forget the feather colors, those combs and wattles don't lie. I only see one female. I've had several varieties of English Orpingtons, including Silver Laced, and the feather color/pattern can vary from individual to individual, especially when they're young and haven't grown their adult feathers yet. The male should have white hackles when mature, but those don't come in until later.

I agree that only one looks like a female. The feathers/lacing changes a lot as they mature.

Here's my SLO cockerel at bedtime tonight. He is starting to look good.
Such an easy going personality. Has yet to make any crowing attempts.
