I've been having to restart my flock since we just moved from Alaska to Maine, and I ended up choosing to go with Orpingtons. I am currently having 30 B/B/S & Lav & White eggs being shipped that will be arriving soon, and going into the incubator.

Anyways, I Was just wondering what you get when you breed color b to s for example

SplashxSplash
Bluexsplash
Blue x Black
White x Splash
Lavender?

Any help with breeding or raising these birds would help so much.

Hope this helps.

Chicken Color Crosses

Blue X Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash

Blue X Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash

Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black

Splash X Black = 100% Blue

Black X Black = 100% Black

Splash X Splash = 100% Splash

This is exactly what I was looking for!

Would anyone possibly know what would happen if I would breed Lavenders to a blue, black , splash, etc?

Lav X Black = All black carrying one copy of the lavender gene (splits)

Split X Split = 25% lav, 50% split, 25% black

Lav X Split = 50% lav, 50% split

Lav X Lav = 100% lavender

This color calculator might be helpful. Keep in mind lavender is a recessive gene, that typically (at least in orps) covers black. So essentially it is a black bird, with a lavender dilution. When you cross blue to lavender, the first generation is like crossing blue to black - you end up with 50% blue and 50% black, and they will all carry a single copy of the lavender gene (that cannot be visually seen yet).
