Hello All,
Our Orpington is just about a year old. During the winter she started to molt. We found mites and have been treating her with Ivermectin drops and had little luck of eradicating. (Our other hens, it worked wonderfully). That being said, We find most of the mites are around her vent. All of her other feathers grew back and are beautiful and shiny however her head feathers have yet to come back. Is this really still from mites or is there some underlying condition to be aware of? Thank you so much for any help.

Looks like there's intact feather follicles so likely those won't be replaced until she molts.
Observe to see if other hens are picking are her too - maybe during roosting. So could be a combo of picking, scratching and parasites.
If you are still finding mites on her, then use a permethrin dust or spray or sevin dust and treat her. Housing needs to be treated as well.

Ivermectin should be effective in taking care of lice/mites - Pour On dose is 0.09ml per pound of weight once then repeated in 10 days. It does need to come into contact with the skin along the base of the neck.

We have seen a few times where one of the other hens has pecked at her neck. We treat her with the Ivermectin on the skin of the back of her neck. (2 drops may not be enough for how heavy she is). as well as treating the coop with ample amounts of Diametrus earth. Thank you

Likely 2 drops is not enough. Weigh her and give her the correct amount for the 10 days follow up.
You may find that DE is not an effective treatment for an infestation and need to use a Permethrin based Poultry Spray or Dust to treat housing.

she is now has bald patches on her head and all the growth in the above pictures are gone. Regarding the housing, all the other hens are completely fine. No infestation at all. is it ok to treat the housing when everyone else is fine?

is there a disease she may have? We are finding that the majority of eggs she lays are soft shell and or fart eggs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
