Orpingtons or Cochins

I cant decide if I want to raise Standard Cochins or Orpingtons. If anyone has sugesstions and or pictures will you please post.

Why not raise both. I always loved the orpingtons and finally got some this year. At the same time I ordered some giant cochins. Now to be truthful I like the cochins better. They are so sweet and calm. Its amazing how these big beautiful giants come from such tiny chicks. I can't wait until they are full grown

I have both and so far my buff orps girls are sweeter than my partridge cochin girls, however, the cochin boys are as sweet as the orps and love to have their chests rubbed. They don't do the lap thing like the orps, but they'll stand right on top of my feet waiting for a scratch.

Mine are still too young for laying so I can't help you with that.

I prefer Orpingtons because I dont care for the dirty feathered feet, but both are nice birds. Orps are generally better layers, overall, and less inclined to be broody all the time.
