Orpingtons

I am wanting to breed blue and black orpingtons. But i was also wondering about adding whites to the mix what color would the offspring be if i kept them all in the same pen. thanks.

Blue orpingtons can hatch - blue, black or splash.

White orpingtons can be dominant white, recessive white, or a combination of both. White hides color.

You will get a jumbled mix of color, some blue, some black, some splash and white will have some color bleeding through.

As hard as good whites are to come by you should consider a white breeding pen separated from the blue/black/splash pen.

If youmix them up they will all be orpingtons but non-standard colors. They won't be pure colors and alot of people will be angry if they by a white looking orpington and it throws colors and ruins their breeding hatches.
