I can't find my other thread, so going to make a new one.

are my birds, sold as pure Ameraucanas.

I contacted the store and they told me that they were pure as far as they knew and gave me the phone # of the hatchery. I contacted the hatchery and was told that they don't sell "easter eggers" and have "never heard of birds being called that" and that all of their chicks were pure Ameraucanas. I emailed them the above album of my chicks and this link as well: http://ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html

I'll
keep you updated as to what, if any, reply that I get. Also, according to the hatchery, they sell pure-bred Araucanas on occasion as well.

Here is the hatcheries listing for their Ameraucanas https://www.esteshatchery.com/product_info.php?products_id=62

I wouldn't be too hard on them, a lot of hatcheries and feed stores have no idea what the difference is between an EE and a pure Ameraucana.

EEs are great birds, enjoy them!

They call them easter egg chickens on their page. They also call the ameraucanas and araucanas. Any bird with three names isn't pure anything. Easter eggers are nice chickens. If you have the gold penciled ones, think of them as quechua, and respect them as such.

well, after I had talked to them (before the email) they DO sell them separately. They have another "breed" they sell sometimes which they call "rainbow layers" lol anyone confused yet?

So, when you go to the store, there is a cage of "Ameraucanas" and a cage labeled "easter eggers/rainbow layers"

I just got ticked coz they wanted to argue with me about it..
