OT - I just bought a verizon wireless modem!

Hmm, I'm not sure what this wireless is. Is it a Verizon network that you are connecting to? That is what it sounds like to me.

As far as making your own wireless network from a prexisting cable or DSL connection, certain things must be done to make your network secure.

The way I have mine set up, only someone with secret government type tools and an endless budget would be able to crack it. So they can be secure, and it takes about 5 minutes to make it so. A big step is WPA encryption with a good secure key. A huge step on top of that is physical address filtering. With those two, you are pretty secure.

If anyone has questions about it, feel free to contact me.

The guy said that they didn't have a way to connect it to a home network system. I ask because I have a laptop also and wanted to be able to use both at the same time. He said it couldn't be done. Then me & my sister tried to get her laptop that has built in wireless to pick up or grab my signal from my desktop and it wouldn't do it. We tried several times but go. It's called verizon wireless broadband access usb720 modem. So far its been great. We don't have to many neighbors and most seem to have the direct tv stuff.

Ok. Thats a different setup than what I was thinking. I was thinking it was a setup like my neighbors have where I click find wireless networks and my computer searches for ones within range. My one neighbor is great. I don't have to worry about getting internet service till I graduate in a few months. Till then I just pay my 5 bucks and log on to his.
Verizon broadband is awsome. Have fun with it.
