other breeds for meat??

hi all i have read all about Cornish x for meat but im wondering seeing we dont seem to have any here in OZ what would be another good breed for home grown meat??

You surely have Cornish X there. It just may have another name. Maybe "jumbo broiler" or "roaster special" or something like that. If you truly cannot find any (I'd be surprised) grow your own Cornish rooster and your own Plymouth Rock (barred, white, black, it doesn't matter) hens and breed your own meat birds. The Cornish in Australia may be called "Indian Game", so that could be part of the problem.

As far as growing purebreed for meat production, it is honestly disappointing. You'll never get the production and meat volume as you will from a hybrid.
