Other uses for an incubator?

But I have my own horse poop that I could use in it to grow mushrooms out of... perfect. :sick... I've actually been considering how I might achieve that .... but there are a lot of things that would need that £60 before I can think of spending it on an incubator to fill with horse manure and grow mushrooms in.
:th
Most mushrooms do NOT grow in manure. The suggestion for the incubator was to propagate spores to make mycelium on a suitable spawning medium which becomes the mother for mushrooms grown from a properly inoculated substrate generally taking more space than the incubator.
;)

It is their natural medium.... it is why they grow in horse pastures. I grow my tatties and tomatoes and courgettes(zucchini to you) in horse manure so why not mushrooms? I believe that in Ireland where many of the mushrooms are grown for the UK market, they are grown in horse manure.... I could be wrong though.... will have to head off and google now!

See this is why I come here, education, I know nothing about mushrooms but I'll be getting into that and if I fail at least now I know my grandfather will borrow the incubator to activate yeast for his baking!
