Howdy Y'all! My name is Ashley!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have had Chickens for about 2 years now. 1 year for Ducks and Rabbits. Began incubating my chicken and duck eggs this year, as well as breeding my rabbits.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Around 50, I have eggs pipping as I write!
(3) What breeds do you have?
I started with Rhode Island Reds and Plymouth Barred Rocks. I now have a mix of fancy chickens, and barnyard mixes as well.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are so interesting to watch and care for. I also love that they help me to be more self sustaining.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
All sorts of arts and crafts, music & gardening.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a wife to a loving husband of 13 years, mother to three wonderful boys and we also have 3 dogs and a budgie.
I am a homemaker who is homeschooling and caring for our hobby farm.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community
I have been coming to the site for a few months now, ever since I began to incubate my eggs.
I decided to join because I have questions and would like the advice of my fellow bird enthusiasts!
