Ouch! What a peck

I guess my hands are not tender since I do a lot of work outside but I just let them peck. They eventually learn that the soft part isn't food and don't peck so hard after a while. Mine have, anyway.

X2 The ones that peck the hardest also seem willing to peck at just about anything on my person. They peck at the seams of my jeans, my shoes, my wedding ring, a freckle! lol Others gently eat from my hand and come to sit on my lap or stand on my shoes and they don't peck at me at all. They're as different as people, all with different personalities and predilections.

I've been pecked hard by my WL pullet, Snow White, when she wanted to get the mealyworms and others were coming around. But usually she's very gentle - pecking even the smallest piece off without ripping or tearing at my skin. I am careful to hold my palm out as flat as possible to give them less fatty grab space. The other chicks are starting to try and get the worms from my hand and they are pecking softer as well. Mostly though they are still at the grab and go stage when all the mealyworms get knocked to the ground to be eaten. Only Snow White prefers to be handfed her treats. She does not like to eat them from the ground anymore.

I have tried to hand feed all my flock, but the rooster walks the perimeter and gets his tossed to him.
