We've had a broody buff orp doing her best to hatch out eggs. She currently is in her nest box that we moved into a dog kennel inside the coop. We heard peeping last night and this morning we saw this....

I went to check on the broody and her babies. I saw a 2nd little chick that is black and clean legged, a third that is brown and clean legged. Then I saw 1 not moving under her.

Looks like it was crushed, as it wasn't fully fluffed out. Also 1 died and seems crushed that didn't make it all the way out of shell. Just glad I found them before the kids came home. Momma hen won't leave the nesting box, so she was eating out of my hand. I did get her to drink when I brought the water to her as well. Almost as stressful as when the eggs are in the bator.

Thank you. On the bright side there was another adorable chickie under momma hen this morning and she is sitting tight. Hopefully there will be a few more by the end of the day.

So far 5 were running around at 6:30am this morning. Went out about 9 and 1 and drowned

The little black one looked cold. It was 51 degrees in the coop. Pretty chilly today. We took the 4 remaining chicks and brought them inside to put under the heat lamp. Marbles in their waterer. 3 more eggs are pipping under mamma, so I'm hoping when she has finished hatching we will be able to return these babies to her.

Here are some pics of the babies we brought inside.
This one 1 think is and EE/Red Star cross

I think this one is a Light Brahma/red star cross

Another EE/Red Star cross (this one look just like our EE Poofy when she was a chick except the leg color)

Finally the one we are totally not sure of. Think this one came from a white egg which would be a GL polish or a Lakenvelder. Out of the 4 roos, could be red star, BBR OEGB (don't think it is this one), mixed D'uccle (don't think it's this one) or a mixed birchen game bantam (maybe this one) it is smaller than the others.
